Cussing. Is it bad?

So many non-believers, don’t understand why cussing is bad. Most Christians don’t swear because their parents didn’t, and it just doesn’t seem appropriate. But… did you ever think about it in depth? Seriously think about why it’s Inappropriate. Probably not…

I had a losing battle once with someone asking me this very question. I just didn’t have an answer.

Then the Holy Spirit brought a fact to my attention months later. I wasn’t even thinking about it when it was revealed to me.

Here it is.

The Lord is Holy, anything He is to be associated with is Holy or to become Holy.

Exodus 20-7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain [that is, irreverently, in false affirmations or in ways that impugn the character of God]; for the Lord will not hold guiltless nor leave unpunished the one who takes His name in vain [disregarding its reverence and its power].

Now vain, meaning “without significance, worthless; improper or irreverent manner.

Profanity is to talk of someone with irreverence.

Now people think Blasphemy is only saying Gods name is vain. But… Blasphemy. definition (Irreverent behavior toward anything held sacred, priceless, ect.)

Now I’m going to point out some things, then I’ll back them with a few scriptures.

  • God feels, swearing/profanity/cussing is so bad (this is what was revealed) that He didn’t even want His Holy name associated with it or anywhere around it, He felt SO strongly about it, He in fact made it a commandment.

S-E-L-E-H (pause and calmly think about that)

  • If blasphemy is only toward things that are sacred, then wouldn’t that mean, it’s okay, if you only don’t use it in reference to God? Right? Under whose definition? Us maybe, depending on each persons own personal opinion of sacred. To God most likely not. To the Lord who created all things Himself, people, plants, animals, water, sky, earth..  From the air, you breathe, to every heart beat… It’s all sacred. Every minute in time is sacred. In essence  EVERYTHING.

Whatever you swear at, turning it irreverent, IS in fact, blasphemy. SO when you blaspheme you offend the Holy Spirit

Ephesians 4:2. Ep9-3029 Do not let unwholesome [foul, profane, worthless, vulgar] words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear [you speak]. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [but seek to please Him], by whom you were sealed and marked [branded as God’s own] for the day of redemption [the final deliverance from the consequences of sin].” Amp Bible

Jesus told the people. Matthew 12-31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy [every evil, abusive, injurious speaking, or indignity against sacred things] will be forgiven people, but [f]blasphemy against the [Holy] Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit [by attributing the miracles done by Me to Satan] will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come

If swearing is blasphemy and everything of God is Sacred. Opening yourself for judgment, if blasphemy can be forgiven, that means it’s a sin to start with. and if speaking ill is offending the Holy Spirit, and blasphemy against the Holy spirit is unforgivable.

  Ask yourself

  • Don’t you think swearing at all is playing with Gods fine line?
  • Isn’t it risky not knowing where the fine line actually is?
  • Can anyone actually know where the fine is?

S-E-L-E-H (pause and calmly think about that)
